A child dwells deep inside of me
A smile so warm, so sweet
A child dwells deep inside of me
Deep down inside retreat
 
The child is here now reaching out
For all the world to see
A bright and willing soul I feel
This child resides in me
 
A soft and tender voice I hear
Yet often times ignore
A tug that comes from deep within
The child now speaks once more
 
I am grown up, oh this is true
Torn in so many ways
The hurts that I’ve encountered
Just wanting so to play
 
For deep inside is healing
So not to be afraid
Its all unfolding nicely
The healing for which you’ve prayed
 

Thank you, my angels, for standing by me
A gift from above who will set us all free
Allow me to learn from your kindness and love
A gift among gifts from God up above

A gift from God this child we know
From heaven’s pearly gates
Resides inside of all of us
For this is no mistake
 
So now I ask each one of you
To look down deep inside
The child within can heal us
Let go of fear and pride
 
Together we will follow
This path chosen from our birth
Together we will prosper
Our purpose here on earth
 
Again, I ask each one of you
To go within and see
The child that lies in all of us
A child who’ll set us free
